Just as Hurt was the best-selling track off Johnny Cash’s last album, as a snowboard film-maker, you can be sure that your slam section will nearly always be the most popular.
Why? We’re not entirely sure, but everyone (ourselves included) seems to love watching a good slam. Perhaps we find it refreshing to know that even the top pros spin wildly out of control sometimes, and even the world’s best are guilty of winding down the windows?
It’s nice to know, for example that when Victor de le Rue was bagging one of the parts of the year, it didn’t come easy. Or that when Bode Merrill was working on the shot that would become the cover of our October issue (at 3.07), there was a random middle-aged dude watching and filming the pain on his phone? Or perhaps it’s just good old-fashioned schadenfreude.
Either way, when the film is as good as Absinthe’s Dopamine, you can be sure the slams will be pretty spectacular too. This is no ordinary slam section. This is an M&S slam section. A collection of the very best in the world eating shit. They should have put that in their Christmas advert shouldn’t they?
