The Most Dangerous Trick In Snowboarding – The Iron Lotus

Eurocarving taken beyond extreme

Whilst we were out in Stubai with the GB Park & Pipe team last week (more on that later), during a eurocarving session head coach Hamish McKnight persuaded his assistant Jack Shackleton to help him tackle what they call ‘the most dangerous trick in snowboarding’: The Iron Lotus.

Named after the finale-winning trick from Blades of Glory, it essentially involves Jack committing to a full-stretch eurocarve whilst Hamish points his board at his head at full speed, praying that he times the pop on his ollie just right.

They also managed to pull what they call a ‘Stacked Carve’ out of the bag in the same session: Hamish toeside carving with Jack simultaneously holding his heel edge and frontside eurocarving. After a few days of overwhelming park riding from both the GB team and the assembled slopestyle goliaths also at Stubai, the shopw they put on was equally as impressive as anything that went down on the 120-foot prime line kickers.

Want to give this a go? You’ll need to know the basics first. Make you sure you swot up on how to eurocarve here.
