Jamie Barrow – snowboarding’s very own human cannonball – is back
Jamie Barrow – snowboarding’s very own human cannonball – is back with a new ‘stunt’ becoming the fastest (and quite possibly only) snowboarder to be towed by a plane.
Yup, after last year when he became both the fastest snowboarder to be towed by a car and powered by a jet pack, he recently re-visited the frozen planes of St Moritz to attach a wakeboard cable to a prop-powered plane.
The thing is though, due to the landing strip’s regulations, the plane wasn’t actually allowed to take off, meaning that the day’s antics were limited to Jamie being towed by a really, really big car with a propeller.
No bother though, he still achieved a record-settign speed of 125kph (77mph), still a way off of his British record of 151.6kph (and Darren Powell’s word record of 201.9kph, set in 1999). According to the video, he’s planning to return and attempt another record with the plane actually in flight.
Which leads us to hypothesise what other records he could set (create himself)? Fastest snowboarder towed by a horse? Fastest falling leaf? The record for most distance travelled after an edge catch?
