After this video of a cat heroically rescuing a child from a rabid dog did the rounds on Facebook yesterday, we thought we’d share with you another magnificent example of the feline species – this base jumping cat.

Watch as it scrambles around on the precipice, gasp as it loses grip and plummets towards the earth, cheer as it lands safely then piss yourself laughing as a rival cat chases it away.

Yes, it may not do the theory of evolution any favours seeing as the cat got itself into that position, but it astonishing how easily it lands after such a massive fall. The only other member of the animal kingdom with knees that strong must be Jaws:

The most important thing to learn from this video though is that it is extremely f*ucking annoying when people film stuff with their phones in portrait, don’t do it people!
