Shape, Profile and Sidecut

At first glance you might think the Weston Riva is pretty similar to the Rise. In fairness, they do share a few features in common, but when you delve into it, they’re different beasts altogether. The Riva is a more advanced, stiffer option for aggressive riders who want to ride steeper and deeper terrain.

The profiles of the two are similar, to a point, but the Riva takes on a more directional form of Camrock with the rocker in the tail shorter than that in the nose. This feeds into the narrative that the Riva is built for deeper snow, and for charging nose first.

Where the Riva really starts to pull away from the Rise is in its use of a tapered outline. This narrowing of the board from nose to tail reduces surface area in the rear of the snowboard to help it sink down into the snow and in turn, keep the nose up and out. It also comes into play to help with manoeuvrability, the narrower tail is able to whip round between trees or slash through turns.
