Weston are a community focused snowboard company, who pride themselves on their community-driven designs and interactions rather than the numbers. They even drive a tiny showroom around the US to show off their gear (nice).

The Colorado locals behind Weston snowboards are all set for a massive year in Europe, with their products hopefully hitting the shelves in time for the season ahead. Adding to this year’s collection of boards  – the all-terrain ‘Range’ board.

“A true all-mountain charger, the Weston is able to supply the goods on the piste, off-the piste, and just about anywhere in between”

If you’re looking for a total resort shredder, the Range features their ‘Slayer Wood Core’, constructed from bamboo and poplar to deliver the perfect blend of pop and power at a drastically reduced weight.

Add to this the tip and tail carbon inserts – running from both inserts to the nose and tail of the board – along with the camrock style profile, blending different sidecut radii, and you’ve got a genuinely versatile board. Loaded with pop at each ends, torsionally stiff enough to charge yet soft enough to butter, it packs a camber profile that performs across endless types of terrain.

In other words, pick whatever run you like to get to après at the end of the day – the Range will keep the levels of control and stoke high.

It also features a sintered base, which although raises the price tag somewhat, makes the board a little more durable and means it will retain wax more effectively.

A true all-mountain charger, the Weston is able to supply the goods on the piste, off-the piste, and just about anywhere in between.

Tester’s Verdict

Rhys JonesTDC Snowboarding

“I’d not heard too much about Weston before this year, so I was curious to see what they were about and how the Range handled the Alps. We’d not long had a mini dump of snow when I took this board out, so I was excited to see how it handled the mixed conditions. I was impressed overall with the versatility of this board, I can see myself using it to teach on.

“On piste it felt quite lively and playful, it was easy to get it onto its tail and spin about”

On piste it felt quite lively and playful, it was easy to get it onto its tail and spin about. The camber wasn’t overly aggressive, but it was enough to get some nice dynamic riding in. When the piste started getting quite chopped up and piles of snow were mounting, I had the board smashing through the snow, and it seemed to soak up the chatter quite well. On its edge it was pretty solid, but we didn’t really have any sketchy ice conditions to really test its metal. However, on groomers, getting it up on its edge and holding through a deep carve felt solid.

We ventured out to a couple of locals spots and found a few bowls to ride, and it wasn’t plunging it’s nose, but I did work a bit harder than I have on some other boards.

A couple of park runs later, and it felt really stable on the landing. I didn’t love it on the rails, it felt a tad catchy for some reason. But all in all, this is a solid, dependable board that was enjoyable across the whole mountain.”
