Why we chose the Nidecker Sensor Plus Snowboard: Full upgrade, full camber, full send.

You’re currently thinking, “Hang on, haven’t we met before?” at the sight of this fresh-out-the-factory for 2021 all-mountain freestyle board, aren’t you. And technically, you’d be right – you’ve seen this shape and tech list in its brother, the Sensor. But get down and dirty into the molecular spec of this charger, and you’ll soon find the superior DNA strain that sets the Sensor Plus apart from its close relative and, ultimately, what cements it to our holy Whitelines 100 list.

“Put simply, it’s built with just one box to tick in life – to go bigger. Much bigger”

This is the firmed up, positively cambered and full-fat performance version of the already epic Sensor, spring-loaded with even more pop for launching off bigger cliffs and park jumps, whilst keeping a level of flex and dampening that keeps the “oooof!” and bone-shaking of monster landings to a minimum. Put simply, it’s built with just one box to tick in life – to go bigger. Much bigger.

Aside from that (albeit massive) difference, that’s where the evolution from the Sensor stops. And trust us when we say: that is no bad thing at all. They’ve reached for the same top-drawer innovations as its predecessor, not least with the exclusive Sidekick tech to lift the Sensor Plus’s edges at the widest points of the nose and tail to amplify float, smooth out the ride across rougher terrain, and help make turning as free, easy and steezy and possible no matter where your lap has taken you.

“Nidecker’s N-7000 base doesn’t mess about in cranking up your speedo, with the help of its carbon nanoparticles”

Its Mastercore construction is primo too, using forensically decided-upon mix of woods to strike the right balance of power, strength and responsiveness whilst keeping the weight to a minimum. And not forgetting what lies beneath its futuristic, carbon and Kevlar-spiked Premium Sandwich build – a true beast of a base, the Nidecker N-7000, which doesn’t mess about in cranking up your speedo, with the help of carbon nanoparticles for toughness and a glide that you’ll be recounting over that well-earned apres pint.

If you’ve woken up on one of those magical mornings where everything’s just going right – the coffee is already on the stove, the weather is perfect, roadworks on the mountain pass have left the lifts absolutely silent, you’ve found a mini Snickers in your pants pocket – and bigger sends than ever before seem like the order of the day, this is what you want to be reaching for. This is Nidecker’s biggest ever foray into the high-end freestyle market and they have, without a doubt, come out the other end with a legitimate claim to one of the best all-mountain and park snowboards of the season.
