If something like the perfect spring jacket does exist, the Rome Field Anorak does a pretty damn good job at being precisely that. The lightweight warmth will keep you both comfortable and dry when lapping the park all the way down to the parking lot.

A spring jacket isn’t aimed to tackle teeth shivering cold, meaning you won’t be ready to tackle splitboarding in Antarctica when pulling on the Rome Field Anorak. However, the jacket will work wonders for slushy laps, and when the sun goes down and temperatures drop, you can throw a warm mid-layer underneath to add some warmth.

When looking to buy a new spring jacket, you want to make sure the jacket is good enough when it comes to keeping the slushy snow out. The 5K waterproof rating of the Rome Field Anorak isn’t groundbreaking but it does exactly what’s needed for that time of year. The Durable Water Repellent coating is a big help on that front as well.

If you’re worried about getting too hot, you can either go ahead and open up the zippered mesh armpit vents or the half zipper at the front to let in a nice bit of fresh air. Also, getting in and out of an anorak might sometimes be a bit of a mission, which is why Rome has added the hip side opening to it (cheers Rome, like the way you think).

The jacket has got plenty of pockets for safekeeping: a sleeve pocket to store your lift pass in, side pockets to rest your hands in and a kangaroo pocket that fits everything from a beer can to mid-day snacks.

Keeping it simple, the Rome Field Anorak is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a stylish piece of kit to replace your winter jacket with when temperatures start to rise and the snow begins to melt.

The model in the photo is 6’3” (190cm) tall and wearing size L.
