Zeal Portal XL 2019-2020 Snowboard Goggles Review

The Zeal Portal XL model is new for the 2019/2020 season. If you’ve been a fan of Zeal’s OG Portal goggle model but feel that it might fall short when it comes to providing you all the visibility you’d need in order to avoid crashing into various things on the slope, the Portal XL is here to save the day.

The Portal XL is blessed with Zeal’s “Rail Lock” system, which makes for quite the unique lens change experience. How does this work? Well, you simply slide the lens up, swap it for another one, slide the new lens back down, and once it is in place, the magnets at the bottom of the frame will lock it in.

As with all Zeal goggles, the Portal XL is also offered with three different lens qualities. First, we’ve got Zeal’s baseline lens, the Optimum, which has all the qualities you’d want from a basic lens. Second, there’s the polarized version of the Optimum, so you’ll get all the benefits the Optimum has to offer with a bonus of polarized protection for a glare-free ride. If you want to go all in, there’s the photochromic option – a lens that adapts to the light and changes accordingly.

The Zeal Portal XL has vents on both the top and bottom of the goggles, helping your vision to stay clear and reducing the chance of your day getting ruined by fog-up. In addition to all that, they are comfy and easily adjustable too – giving you a clear and comfy experience from first lift to last.
