Why we chose the Ride Revolt Snowboard Bindings:  Insane amounts of bang for your buck.

If mischievous manoeuvres in the park are your thing but you’ve yet to come across the perfect partner for you in bindings-form, the Ride Revolts are certainly worth your attention. This mid flexing binding is made for freestyle riders who don’t want to simply limit their riding within the range of the snowparks but jib their way on and beyond the mountain too.

This lil’ badboy has without a doubt earned its place in the Whitelines 100. It is perfect for cruising around the mountain with all day, every day, seshing the park metal and boosting sidehits.

“With a forgiving slimeback highback that both absorbs shock and dampens vibrations, you are in for a ride smoother than sin”

With a forgiving slimeback highback that both absorbs shock and dampens vibrations, you are in for a ride smoother than sin. Regardless of all the fancy tech shoved into them, they’d still be one of our favourites purely based on aesthetics. Hand of Doom wins style points by the bag load.

Light as a feather, these aluminium based bindings are perfect for long days on the hill, and will offer a nimble ride. The footbed is also ultra-light, and places both your ankles and knees into an ergonomically pleasant position. The lower profile footbed results in an increased underfoot board feel and a natural flex.

New for this season is the ankle strap, which allows for more direct contact with your boot. This improves both the power transmission and comfort, which makes for a more responsive and comfortable ride.

These are a binding that would serve a jib kid well, they’ll let you bone out grabs, press boxes and tweak absolutely anything. They’ll be great on piste, but their home is between the ropes.

Tester’s Verdict

Rob McCreathWhitelines

“These are sick. Last time I rode a pair of Ride bindings, they were attached to the Kink snowboard, complete with denim top-sheet and Sex Pistols base graphic (c’mon, you must remember?).

Without knowing any of the specs you can safely guess that the Revolts were made for the freestyle market. Blackout graphics with the flush looking highback and hand of doom design – hardly something you’ll see strapped to a Borealis at the drop-in for the Couloir de Cosmique.

They just look really sleek. There’s no unnecessary materials and gadgets hanging off the sides, it’s all nicely contained and minimal. That said, there’s still plenty of ways to adjust the fit: from the heel-cups to highbacks, to footbeds to straps.

“The highback has crazy levels of dampening. They use the same urethane as they do for their snowboard’s sidewalls. If you’re strapping into Ride bindings on a Ride snowboard you’d be surfing on velvet caramel, they absorb every bump, buzz, and zing out of hardpack pistes”

Ride bindings can definitely have a bit of a harsh look and feel to them, opting for an aluminium alloy chassis and never looking too generous on the cushioning, but the Revolts offer way more comfort than first impressions might indicate.

I loved the heel straps. Despite looking pretty minimal and unspectacular, they were my favourite thing about the bindings. They’re so supple, you can wring them out like a cloth and they return to their normal shape in a second – that translates into performance as they perfectly wrap around the ankles and deliver immediate, but really smooth and predictable response. The way they’ve cut into them at the centre means you have increased ankle mobility and can properly get your tweak on but still feel supported at the ends.

And that price! These have to be the best bindings on the market for under 200 quid. Comfort, style, customisation, and straight up freestyle gangstability – a winning combo!”
