The Reload is Drake’s freestyle weapon, a team and fan favourite that’s nestled itself firmly into the hearts of jib kids and park rats the world over.

Weighing less than in previous years, the Reload uses Magnesium MG12 buckles rather than Aluminium. This retains the strength while shaving off the grams. Backed up by the Lightsaber baseplate, you’ll feel as light as a feather and will be able to ollie higher while still being able to confidently throw down those landings.

“Asymmetric highbacks enable you to bone and tweak out your grabs like a madman”

Asymmetric highbacks enable you to bone and tweak out your grabs like a madman and maximise comfort and power transfer. The spade highback allows for lateral flex but keeps the toe to heel response rapid.

With new ‘Lil Straps’, which are ergonomically designed to ensure a no-nonsense edge to edge transfer, you’ll find yourself being able to carve quickly and efficiently.

Flex wise it’s slap bang in the middle, so you’ll have the playful freedom to butter and press round the mountain. And when push comes to shove, you’ll still have the ability to get those more aggressive carves in. A good all-rounder, with a bias towards stomping in the park, the Reload is worth a look for those who don’t want to confine themselves to one style of riding.

Tester’s Verdict

Stella PenttiWhitelines

“I don’t mind riding men’s bindings as long as the highback isn’t equivalent to the height of the Eiffel tower. Well, lucky enough, that wasn’t the case with the Drake Reloads, and I actually really enjoyed riding these freestyle specific bindings more than I thought I would.

“The Reload bindings were really comfy”

To be fair, I rode these together with an extremely light weight board and reckon the combination of light bindings and a light board wasn’t really my taste. I didn’t really get the right amount of power I’d usually want from my bindings. That being said, if paired with the right board, I think I would have genuinely loved riding the Reloads.

The Reload bindings were really comfy, as the straps strapped on just the right places on my feet. I could imagine that these are right at home in the park as they are soft too.”
