Why we chose the Bent Metal Forte Snowboard Bindings: This new kid on the block has been stuffed full of Bent Metal’s most innovative tech.

The Bent Metal Forte is your one binding to do it all. A versatile midflex pairs with durable construction to create a binding that’s comfortable from first lifts until last, day after day, all season long. The Forte is a new addition to the team, but already has the air of a well versed classic.

The dictionary defines the term ‘Forte’ as: “A thing at which someone excels”. The crew at Mervin MFG have been in the biz for over three decades, manufacturing top notch snowboard gear and pushing for more sustainable production methods. You could argue that this is, quite literally, their forte.

“The Forte is a new addition to the team, but already has the air of a well versed classic”

The Bent Metal Forte is built around a two-piece aluminium and polymer chassis, in which the heel cup slides back and forth to fine tune the sizing. It uses a mini disk inside to reduce contact with the board to lessen the interruptions in its natural flex pattern. They’re compatible with both 2×4 inserts and the channel system, so whatever way you ride, you’re all set with the Forte.

One of our favourite features on Bent Metal bindings is their Flex Drive Plates. They’re basically mini snowboards that sit underfoot and optimise performance and flex in what used to be written off as a dead zone. Multiple layers sandwich a UHMW core to create a midflex Drive Plate on the Forte. Three different flavours are available, and you can switch them out for a more responsive or playful ride depending on your preference.

The Forte has been kitted out with Bent Metal’s brand spanking new Dual Band Ankle Strap. Rather than a bulky strap that pushes down on the foot creating hotspots and pressure points, the two bands form around your boot and lock it in for a precise and comfortable fit. Also updated is the new Grip Form Toe Strap, the clue’s in the name with that one, it grips round the front of your boot keeping it snug and secure all day long.

“Simply twist the urethane cube to one of the four pre-set angles and ride off into the sunset”

Let’s be honest, how many times do you actually adjust your forward lean? Once? Twice? Despite the proclivity of many to just ignore it, there are a growing number of forward lean fanatics who swear by it. Cranking your highbacks forward pushes you to bend your knees more and adds power to your heelside turns.

Like with all things in snowboarding, there’s no right or wrong with it, have a play around with it and see what you’re most comfortable with. Whether you ramp it all the way up, or end up rocking straight zero’s, the Bent Metal Cube is definitely one of the easiest methods of adjustment on the market. Simply twist the urethane cube to one of the four pre-set angles and ride off into the sunset.

The highbacks themselves feature a cutout to shave weight and to make for a snazzy carry handle when you’re carting your gear around. The foam both grips the boot and offers a bit of extra comfort for long days on the hill. The Bent Metal Forte is a dependable daily driver with enough sauce to handle whatever you throw at it. From days charging the steep and deep to mellow spring afternoons seshing the terrain park, the Forte has got your back.
