Dakine High Roller 2019-2020 Snowboard Bag Review

Why we chose the Dakine High Roller Snowboard Bag: This beast can handle whatever you throw at (or in) it.

It seems like 90% of us have had some sort of bad experience with a snowboard bag in the past. Whether it’s one of the wheels falling off halfway through the airport, the strap snapping as you’re desperately trying to lift it onto the luggage scales or the big hole ripped in the bottom because you thought you’d opt for the no wheeled option. Dakine have designed this bag to turn traveling with your snowboard gear into a pleasant experience, rather than some ordeal from the seventh circle of hell.

“The handle’s even compatible with other Dakine luggage so you can link your bags together and roll out one handed”

We all know that some baggage handlers can be less than careful when loading your precious cargo onto the plane (here’s looking at you Geneva airport…), so when choosing a snowboard bag, you want to factor some form of protection into it. The Dakine High Roller doesn’t skimp on the goods and the outer fabric is a tough 600D ripstop fabric which houses total 360degree padding.

Open up this sick puppy and you’ll find two removable bags to fill as you please, one’s even the perfect size to hold your boots. On the outside of the bag you’ve got 2 external pockets to keep travel essentials easily accessible.

When you’re travelling with all your gear, it can get pretty heavy, so opting for a bag with wheels is usually a better option. The wheels on the High Roller are made from a tough urethane (yes, the same stuff as your skateboard wheels), so they’ll roll smoother and further than other brands. The handle’s even compatible with other Dakine luggage so you can link your bags together and roll out one handed.

You have the option to either get a 165cm or a 175cm, so you can eliminate any unnecessary dead space from inside. It’s available in murdered out ninja black, or a desert camo so you can mix and match with your crew.

Trade Secrets

Dave Trenholm – Product Line Manager, Dakine

“Our most functional, versatile, feature-packed, never-leave-home-without snowboard bag for chasing storms. A team favorite, the High Roller is the gold standard in snowboard travel bags. It’s the one you want by your side for extended trips to unpredictable locations, when you need to pack plenty of gear and make sure you nail the conditions. It is built with capacity for two full setups, with a removable boot bag and removable outerwear bag for soggy items. The exterior pockets keep essentials close at hand. The padded tarp-lined interior ensures a safe and damage-free travel for your contents. Oversized urethane wheels glide easily through the airport, rough streets and deep snow. The compatible handle system pairs with a rolling luggage bag, so you can tow both with one hand and check the latest snow report with the other.”
