Nitro Team 2015-2016 Snowboard Binding Review

Binder king

The Details:

Introduced last year, the Nitro Team binding was developed with input from riders like Markus Keller and Bryan Fox – aka the Nitro team, hence the name! It’s not a park-specific binding, as it’s been built to handle the needs of the aforementioned all-mountain slayers, but freestyle is definitely on the table.

It’s fairly stiff, so can handle high speeds and agressive riding, but comfort hasn’t been forgotten. The heel cup is adjustable, so you can always get the perfect fit, and the highbacks are asymmetric for better compatibility with your calves.

Shock absorption comes courtesy of small airbags built in to the baseplate, which are good to your feet, knees and ankles – and are obviously lightweight too!

The straps are reinforced by steel cables that ensure the bindings will always be tight enough, yet won’t stretch out over time – and snapping them after a harsh knuckle or a poorly-placed foot will be pretty much impossible.

As well as this burger-n-fries design, they also come in some plain colours – green, orange and black.

TESTER’S VERDICT:
Sam McMahon – Whitelines

“Just like the board of the same name in the Nitro lineup, the Team bindings are about as simple and classic as you could wish for.

While aimed at an all-mountain kind of rider, I’d say they’re actually pretty great as a freestyle binding.

With heaps of flex and a nice load of calf support from the highback, they’ve got the tweak where you need it in the air but support on the landing. They look sweet too.”
