Deeluxe Snowboard Boots | 2021-22 Gear Preview

Welcome to our new Envision Series where we’ll be bringing you the latest gear previews, with some of the most exciting new snowboard, boot, binding, outerwear and goggle products to drop for winter 2021-22. In this Envision episode, we’re taking a look at next year’s lineup from Deeluxe.

Snowboard boots can be a contentious piece of kit; there’s so many options out there, and everyone seems to have an opinion on what’s right and wrong. Soft or stiff? Laces or boa? Aggressive or playful? One thing that we can all agree on, is that they need to be good quality, and that’s where Deeluxe comes in. With something for every ability and price point, Deeluxe have got you covered.

Innovators within the boot industry since the 90’s, Deeluxe were the first brand to bring a thermo-mouldable liner to market and have been leading from the front ever since. Next season Deeluxe are unveiling a whole bunch of new tech in their boots, including a new tongue flex concept that pays homage to skate shoes. There’s jib, freestyle, and freeride options each with varying thicknesses dependant on the boots intended use.

The fully updated liner concepts across the board are now heat mouldable in every single adult boot across every price point. We’re seeing upgrades to existing models, and a few new ones sneaking their way into the line for 2021/22. So, without further ado here’s three of our favourite Deeluxe boots for next winter to get you stoked.

What are your hero stories going forward into the 2021/22 season?
DEEMON L3 BOA boot. We’ve completely reimagined our flagship all mountain boot the Deemon and equipped it with a BOA® configuration that is exclusive to this model. Together with our friends at BOA® we came with a way to combine our patented L3 lacing configuration with the BOA® Fit System

KB Signature Model boot – the TEAMID KB LTD. Kevin is not only one of the most stylish snowboarders, he’s also a gifted designer. We gave Kevin the chance to design his own signature colorway of his favorite boot the TeamID.

DNA: This new, sneaker-inspired model in the DEELUXE line for the season 21/22, combines the advantages of traditional lacing, the BOA® fit system for a precise fit in the heel and ankle area and our tried and tested DEELUXE Power Strap for improved support at the shin.

What products are you personally most stoked on? (What will you be riding next season?)
Team ID LTD. for park, DEEMON L3 BOA as my go-to all mountain boots, DNA for jibbing, and Footloose 2 for powsurfing / bindingless riding.

What new tech and materials can we look forward to seeing for 2021/22?

New Tongue Flex Concept
With a nod to skate shoes—which offer a slew of tongue and padding options to meet one’s personal preferences—we’ve carefully developed each tongue around the unique demands of our boots and the riders who rock them (we offer a jib tongue, freestyle tongue and a freeride tongue).

Flex Booster
Available as an accessory, the Flex Booster strengthens a boot’s tongue, creating a stiffer flex while offering additional support. It can also prolong the life of a boot by restoring or enhancing its flex. Thanks to a progressive design, it provides greater resistance as it bends, optimizing support and protection—especially from harsh landings.

Have you made any specific changes or leaps within your women’s range?

At DEELUXE we not only offer a women-specific line, also all other boots of our range should rather be seen as unisex models and not as “male-only-models”. This is due to the reason that all boots in our range are also available in smaller sizes and these smaller sizes are tailored to a women-specific last (while the other sizes, from Mondo 26 upwards feature a men’s specific last).

Accordingly, women have the chance to either choose boots from our women specific line or just pick any model from the rest of our line and still get the best fit!

Where are we seeing innovation within your existing line?
Besides all the technical innovations for the upcoming range, we’re of course also coming up with new designs and a completely new color range for our line. Pretty much the whole collection got upgraded in this regard accordingly.

Our main inspirations are usually skate shoes but certain models are of course also inspired by the sneaker culture. Another big inspiration for us is of course the goal to come up with colors and designs that stoke our team riders. After all, they’re the backbone of our brand and they have to be happy with what they’re wearing.

Any cool artist collabs in the pipeline?
Instead of doing artist collaborations, we’ve decided to again give some of our team riders the chance to come up with their artwork for selected models.

“The last thing that the snowboarding scene needs right now is brands taking out the excitement of our sport”

Covid has shaken up everything this year. Are there any big changes taking place with you guys ahead of next season?
We decided to only have about the same amount of carry over models like in a regular year, since we do not see carry overs as the solution for the current uncertainties in the industry caused by COVID-19 and it’s impact on the snowboarding scene. We really believe the last thing that the snowboarding scene needs right now is brands taking out the excitement of our sport. Accordingly, we see it as our duty our to come up with fresh, innovative and exciting gear.

Do you have any new sustainability stories for next season? Has any of your production moved to become more sustainable?
Very often customers decide to buy new boots only because their current boots get to soft and don’t have the same flex anymore like when they bought them. With the help of the DEELUXE flex booster you can upgrade the flex of your boot’s tongue and accordingly prolong the life of your boots. Our boots are made to last as long as possible and with the help of the flex booster you can ride our boots even longer.

“We’re always working on finding new materials to make our range more sustainable”

In addition, you also have various possibilities to customize the flex of your boots exactly the way you want it with the help of flex boosters. We’re also currently working on finding a solution to produce the flex booster of 100% recycled material. Besides this we’re always working on finding new materials to make our range more sustainable and switching to means of transportation for our gear with less environmental impact whenever it’s possible.
