Visiting the Capita stand at ISPO earlier this year was like stumbling upon a shop quickly flooding with skittles, haribo (minus the foamy teeth, they just freak us out), wine gums and all the other bright, sweet, tasty stuff that you wouldn’t hesitate stuffing down your face if you could fit it all in…
We caught up with Finnish pro rider turned Capita Marketing Coordinator Joni Makinen, who kindly talked us through two boards in the stellar 2014 line up:
The Defenders of Awesome
First introduced last season, the Defenders of Awesome (or DOA for short), is Capita’s do anything, go anywhere snowboard. Featuring a mid flex and a hybrid camber profile with camber between the feet, zero camber outside the feet and small sections of rocker going into the nose and tail, the DOA has been engineered for stability and pop while maintaining a degree of looseness and float in powder. Capita stuck a fast sintered base on it this year and the graphics, featuring hot chicks with guns, are gonna to be hard to top next season.
The Outsiders
The Outsiders is a brand new snowboard in the Capita range designed for riders looking to take their park riding to the next level. The board features Capita’s new ‘New Age’ profile, with camber through the majority of the board blending into short flat sections just before the nose and tail. This gives riders the responsiveness and pop of a camber board with a touch more forgiveness. With it’s mid/stiff flex and dual carbon beams we reckon this would be a great board to chuck off jumps. We’d be willing to hazard a guess that the bright ‘n’ bold graphics were designed by UK artist Jono Wood as well.
