Relentless Energy has leaked new details about their upcoming film Lives Of The Artists: Follow Me Down. Like the first one, it’s a documentary style effort starring Xavier de le Rue. They’ve also got the big mountain man himself Jeremy Jones on board this time. As you’d expect from anything with Jones in, the riding is proper balls out. The film features Jeremy and Xavier’s three week trip to Antarctica.
We’ve managed to get our hands on the trailer, which looks like it’s gonna have some insane back country riding from the pair. Check it out for yourselves below.
Just like in Jeremy’s project Deeper, they’ve gone all eco and ditched the heli completely, riding everything on splitboards instead. This isn’t just a hippy environmentalist approach, it means they can access areas they couldn’t normally get to, and this makes for some pretty gnarly riding. ”When you’re dropped by a helicopter on a peak, you’re exposed to danger for a couple of minutes; when you’re hiking you’re exposed for hours“ explains Jones. Plus, anything that stops the snow melting gets our vote.
Along with the filming team, they’re climbing some seriously steep faces. And because they’re in Antarctica, there’s all kinds of extra risks as well, so if a route gives way or they drown under an iceberg, there’s no-one standing by to take them back to the hospital which is almost three days away!
Xavier de le Rue blogged some of this epic trip for us late last year. The production guys are known for doing killer editing and camera work, so we’re expecting a film that’s gonna look and sound sick.
James Lavelle (known for his work as UNKLE) has been put in charge of the soundtrack and will also be featuring in the film in his own right. Relentless’ film crews followed his tour in Tokyo, Moscow, St. Petersburg and London, and Lavelle set the record straight on how he’s managed to keep his music legit and respected for almost 20 years. He’s has had some pretty hard times in his career, but this should show him (and his music) back on top form.
We’ll be giving away the full film with Whitelines this winter, so keep your eyes peeled. And check relentlessenergy.com/followmedown for more updates.
