Xavier De Le Rue and Jeremy Jones Antarctica Update

Climbing up Ice Walls

Xavier De Le Rue has just checked in to let us know what’s new on his trip to Antarctica with fellow big mountain shredder Jeremy Jones, after we covered the guys and the team packing up and setting off last week.

The pair are hoping to tackle the last big mountain fronteir this season after last year’s failed attempt, hiking up the steeps with splitboards -and not a helicopter in sight. This time round it seems so far so good, as the duo have sucessfully managed to leave Ushuaia Port (where they had call it a day last year after mechanical problems kept them ashore for three days) and are crossing to the Arctic Peninsular to ride and film for 7 days with the Relentless crew. Some of the footage shot will be included in the second part of JJ’s upcoming project ‘Deeper’ (check out the trailer here) and we’ll hopefully be receiving regular updates on this epic trip, so keep your eyes peeled.

Climbing above the water in hard steep snow isn't it what it is all about?

“It’s been two days since we’ve left Ushuaia. We still haven’t reach the peninsula and I’ve spent most of my time lying in bed to avoid the sea sickness. I’ve puked a bunch of times…. but the sea seems to be getting better as we are approaching South Georgia Island. It’s quite unreal the atmosphere there is, crossing the famous Drake passage, (worse crossing in the world) surrounded by these massive waves. We’ve seen a few whales already, the crew is really excited despite the long journey… Can’t wait to see what’s on the other side…!”
