Vacation? Trailer – Documentary on NZ Competitions

http://mpora.com/videos/AAd99jnvmm08 Pilchard Productions have just released this teaser for a documentary on the Competitive Snowboarding circuit in the Southern Hemisphere.

It’s an interesting idea – it’s not often we get an insight into what goes on at competitions and what the riders really think when their Team Managers aren’t looking over their shoulders. And bearing in mind the Southern hemi has hosted the Burton High Fives, Billabong Bro Down and The North Face Freeski Open so far this season, there should be plenty of material here. The lure of top notch snowparks in the off-season means many of the top riders and film crews head to Wanaka or Queenstown in New Zealand to get in pre-season training or dial the tricks that have eluded them all winter, so the rider list will no-doubt be second to none.

While we have nothing but respect for Ben Howell (Mr. Pilchard Productions) we would also like to make a plea to the Snowsports world here: Please, for the love of all that is holy, can we stop using this kind of shit-step for edits. Taking British pop-star samples and sticking a bit of cheesy wobble bass underneath doesn’t make for good music people! We understand that it’s kind of like the hip-hop ‘bang bang/your mum’ tracks that used to be used for everything a while back (we’re looking at you Travis Kennedy) but just cos everyone’s at it, that DOES NOT make it OK. We think we can speak for everyone when we say we’re over it now. No more Adele, Florence and the Machine, La Roux or Ellie Goulding remixes. No more Black Keys either whilst we’re at it. You’ve been warned.
