Where is snowboarding headed?

Just a thought, but having seen Torstein Horgmo land this dubious ‘triple cork’ at the 2011 X Games in Aspen the other day, and more and more contest riders being rewarded for full on tech over traditional style, are we heading for a scenario like the video below i.e. glorified gymnastics? Might not look as funny as it did in 1983…
