Billabong just posted this clip of their headline surfer Andy Irons trying out snowboarding (we think for the first time ever but we’re not sure – he seems to get the knack of it annoyingly quick!). Flying in from tropical Hawaii to freezing Jackson Hole is quite a shock to the system for Andy – as is, presumably, going from demon big wave shredder to ragdolling powder noobie. It’s interesting to see how he immediately adopts that tuck-knee surf style on snow, as opposed to his illustrious riding buddies Travis Rice and Kevin Jones, who demonstrate the benefits of a classic snowboarder’s duck stance.
Let the debate over which sport is better rage on, tho I think it’s pretty obvious which one is harder to master, and it ain’t snowboarding.
Update: Andy Irons just won the Billabong Pro in Teahupoo – one of the heaviest waves in the world. Nice timing!
