Seems like telling stories on the history of snowboarding is all the rage at the moment, and when said history is so colourful (literally), we’re certainly not complaining.
As the most important organisation in competitive snowboarding, The TTR/World Snowboard Tour have delved deep into the archive footage and interviewed many notable influencers to piece together somewhat of a history lesson on competitive shredding. From day-glow clad riding in a halfpipe-shaped-ditch at the very first Burton US Open, to the triple cork explosion that was the most recent X Games slopestyle, it’s all in here.
The production will be released in 5 separate episodes every Friday as follows, with the first dropping tomorrow:
Episode 1 – Humble Beginnings – Friday 1st, March
Episode 2 – Comps Get BIG – Friday 8th, March
Episode 3 – Comps Get Seriously BIG – Friday 15th, March
Episode 4 – The New Millennium – Friday 22nd, March
episode 5 – Triple Corks and The Future – Friday 29nd, March
If you missed it when it was released online last weekend, burn’s excellent ‘We Ride- The Story of Snowboarding’ is a really well put together and relatively thorough account of some of the key events and personalities that were around in snowboarding’s early days – set aside an hour and a half of your time, consider taking notes and just get it watched. It’s well worth your time.
