Catching an edge is not something anyone wants to do. It’s the bane of beginners’ lives, leading to painful scorpions, and the cause of many a broken bone in more advanced riders.
In fact, catching an edge is usually so damn painful that entire board ranges (Bataleon’s Triple Base Tech boards) have been designed with the aim of avoiding it.
So why the hell would French-Canadian Will Lavigne be so keen on catching his edge, especially on something as sketchy as a brick wall-ride?
Well, ‘cos if you can control it, it looks damn cool. He’s apparently coined the name “Tornado Flip” for this crazy ass new trick. We prefer the more ronseal-esque “edge catch flip,” just cos it tells you straight up just how mental this manoeuvre is.
