Here’s an interesting look at what went on behind the scenes when Nicolas Müller, John Jackson, Jussi Oksanen and Mark Sollors hit up British Columbia to film their X-Games Real Snow parts. If you cast your minds back to February, you’ll remember that riders had around a month and a half to go out and film a 60 second video part – for the public and judges to vote on, with the intention of bringing backcountry riding into the eyes of the mainstream public. The resulting edits were pretty banging and Nico ended up walking away with the gold, while Jussi came out on top of the public vote.
It’s cool to hear how trying to shoot backcountry so early in the season, in such a snow-prone region of the world affected their typical season routines. Rather than going on street missions in January when the weather was bad, the riders were instead forced to do some extra grafting in the trees. Insightful stuff once again from the Big B and of course some on-point powder riding.
