Episode one of Vans new series, Introspect, has just dropped. Zac Marben is up first. This truly soulful snowboarder and sick urban rail-rider goes back to the roots of snowboarding – hunting for hidden street spots in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He’s not just a stylish rider but also a damn fine musician to boot. And he’s most definitely a fan of style over spins.
I’d rather see someone do a smooth grab rather than a triple backflip
The rest of the series looks set to focus on this side of snowboarding, going back home with the pros, talking about the love of the sport rather than how many spins you’ve got to nail to win comps. It’s nice to know that some riders can still make a living shooting parts like this. Definitely worth a watch if you’re tired of ‘spin to win’ comps and want something a bit more in touch with the grassroots side of snowboarding.
