Shit got pretty hectic here at Whitelines towers before Christmas (think like Arnie in the most terrible Christmas film ever) and somehow we managed to miss this episode of Signal Snowboards’ classic series Every Third Thursday. Thankfully (unlike Arnie) this is equally awesome this side of Christmas.
Dave Lee and his crew have taken on an interesting challenge here – building an entirely modular snowboard where you can customize core, base and topsheet and bind them together in whatever combinations you choose, switching them up to suit your tastes or conditions.
While a lot of what goes on on the Third Thursdays at Signal is entertaining but essentially useless, we reckon this board might actually have legs as a production model. OK so they say the process of making it is quite long and involved, but seriously, how cool would it be to switch up your core profile and/or base to suit the conditions?
You could crack out the rocker core for slushy park days, and the camber one when it’s icy. And you could keep a spare base in reserve, keeping it fresh from dings and only bringing it out on days when you really needed extra speed. You could even change your graphic depending on what you were feeling that day.
Signal, you should definitely think about making some more of these.
