The Norwegians are a stylish bunch aren’t they? That’s why Ben Howell – aka Pilchard TV – spent the winter just gone stationed in Vierli and Folgefonna with riders like Len Jørgensen, Terje Håkonsen, Øivind Fykse, Mats Hofgaard, Jonas Steen and Odd Roar Solerød.
With a focus on style and aesthetics instead of the monster spins and corks, this is damned impressive stuff to watch – everyone goes huge whilst holding that classic Norwegian steeze.
But first the filming is worth more than a mere mention, a lot of effort has clearly been put into lovingly crafting this piece, because to dismiss it as an edit would be an insult. It’s like the #skyporn hashtags floating around Instagram, but without the flippancy – this shows just how much you can do with a 7D, an eye for a shot and a heap of patience.
Terje himself features, with his trademark air to fakie and even the ability to make snowskating look good – he’s still the man.
We’re normally strong advocates of the ‘skate style’ editing techniques, fast cuts and more killer than filler, but when you put something together like this, it’s worth taking the slow road occasionally. The Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds track kicks ass too.
And the riding: any edit with Len Jørgensen in it will do it for us, his lanky style floating that judo Madonna over the Vierli kicker was ace. And then Terje himself too, with his trademark air to fakie and even the ability to make snowskating look good – he’s still the man.

We’re stoked to see the second part, but for now here’s what Ben had to say about the project:
Traktor-Brød is a two-part showcase of snowboarding in Norway. With the ever-increasing level of modern snowboarding, and huge spins and corks commonplace and regularly viewed in contests and videos, Traktor-Brød avoids the trick-heavy approach and instead focuses on style within riding and the stunning Norwegian landscapes surrounding the locales (sic) featured.
