So the Sochi 2014 Olympics officially came to an end yesterday with the Closing Ceremony in the enormous Fisht stadium. The Russians once again put on a spectacular display, with ballet sections, marching bands and all the rest of it.
But the highlight for us had to be Billy Morgan’s entrance to the party – backflipping his way in as part of the Team GB phalanx, and showing the world that for all the pomp and ceremony of the Olympics, snowboarding is still just about pissing around and having fun.
Unfortunately the BBC cameras missed the moment, but thankfully Ben Kilner caught it on his phone, and stuck it up on Instagram. It seems like a good summing up of what’s been a pretty incredible couple of weeks for snowboarding and British snowboarding in particular.
