Holy shit… Good these de Le Rues are, aren’t they? Everyone knows about Xavier the high altitude madman and Paul-Henri the Olympic boardercross rider, but until the last few years Victor de Le Rue has been the dark horse.
How many other riders can you name that could hit huge AK spines one day, then one-foot backflip a gap the next?
Combining mental Alaskan lines with some pretty nifty freestyle – taking some one-footed inspiration from fellow Absinthe drinker Bode Merrill – could he be the raddest of the Rues?
There’s even an ice face straight line for the ender, a nod to the famous shot of his bro that graced our issue 99 cover perhaps? But if so, a nod is all that it would be, this is obviously someone taking snowboarding down their own route – how many other riders can you name that could hit huge spines one day, then one-foot backflip a gap the next?
Or hit pillow stacks the size of the one 39 seconds in? Float back 540s as nice as the one at 2.17? Lay out a backflip as far out as the one at 3.10? Not many.
It’s loose, it’s creative – in short it’s amazing. Well done sir.
