Bored by the seemingly endless stream of Hood summer edits? This is the antidote.
Did you know that hidden away on Mt Hood, not too far from the hustle and bustle of High Cascade and Windells, lies a third Oregon summer camp? One so simplistic and roots that it even forgoes drag lifts, instead requiring dedicated campers to hike their features each day. Earn their turns if you will. This is Mount Hood Ski & Snowboard Camp.
Whilst the former two camps have strict rules about who can ride and when – heavily enforced as we found on our summer jaunt earlier this year – MHSSC is far more relaxed, which is why the grubby Wyld Instinct crew found it a perfect paradise this summer.
Here lies the true spirit of summer snowboarding: forget camp edits and posing with pros for selfies, this is heading out on an adventure, camping in the woods and snowboarding with your buddies every damn day.
Plus, the riding is pretty rad, if skinny stances, pretzels and t-shirts on heads is your kinda thing. The simple, slushy set up here really gave these guys the chance to explore and get creative on the volcano.
