The QPark Tour kicks off with their first session at Superpark Planai

Together with Blue Tomato, QParks hosted their first session at Superpark Planai last Saturday (11th January, 2020). After being faced with ‘not-so-ideal’ conditions at their last Girls Shred Sessions up in Obergurgl, this time around, the weather was finally on their side.

Stoked on the conditions, a sweet amount of 26 riders participated in the first QParks snowboard session of the season. All in all, there were over 70 participants from 12 different countries joining this freestyle party. The vibes were really high up there, keeping the crew pumped throughout the whole day.

The level of riding was off the charts too, as corks, flips and spins were thrown left, right and centre, resulting in us feel slightly dizzy. Crowned as the King of the Best Trick was Canadian Kael Hill. The Canadian took home the title with his Backside 900 Mute, resulting in him having the change to win a surf trip to the Free Spirit Hostel in Ecuador at the end of the QParks Tour, which is pretty dope if you ask us.

“It was really awesome being out here at the Blue Tomato Plan P Contest today. I think it’s just really awesome that companies like Blue Tomato or QParks are supporting such great grassroots contests. Without these grassroots contests, there wouldn’t be the international stage that everyone sees in snowboarding. This is what nobody sees but this is the most important part.” – Kael Hill.

Mr Hill took home the first price in the comp too, followed by the Austrian Lukas Frischhut and Felix Widnig. As for the ladies, Austria’s own Emma Lantos took home gold with a 50-50 to Frontside 180 off at the jib, Cab 540 Indy on the first jump and a Backside 360 Mute on the second kicker. Spanish Selenata Sanchez and Italian jib queen Elena Graglia were throwing down some pretty sick laps as well, earning them a place on the podium too.

All in all, the kickoff was a success and left the riders with a big smile on their face.
