Here come the girls! The Girls Shred Sessions are finally back, and are better than ever. The first shred of the season took place in the ‘Diamond of The Alps’- Obergurgl-Hochgurgl in the Ötztal Valley. What better place to welcome over 20 super stoked shred queens than the only park shaped exclusively by females?
The 21st December session was only confirmed to go ahead right at the very last minute, due to a huge storm rolling through the valley in the previous days. The event was plagued by unpredictable weather conditions, but the crew persevered and made an absolute doozy of a day out of it. Luckily, after some back and forth that wily mistress Mother Nature proved to be on the side of the lady shredders!

The gals started out with a good old-fashioned warm-up to get the blood pumping on a cold day and then dove into the freestyle session with a renewed vigour. Coaches Lea Baumschlager and Pilar de la Cruz got stuck in showing the girls some tasty new moves and offering tips and tricks to help the ladies improve their style. The girls were getting saucy on the boxes and tubes and showcasing the new tricks they’d locked down.
After a well-deserved lunch break hosted in the Hohe Mut Alm, the crew realised just how volatile the weather can be at 3000m. A heavy snowstorm suddenly had rolled through, forcing the resort to shut its lifts for safety. The shred queens were unperturbed though, and after a stellar performance from the Diamond Girls Crew who quickly re-shaped some features during a gap in the weather, were able to carry on in the afternoon.

After a heavy afternoon sessioning the park, the girls had all taken it to the next level with their freestyle progression. Their commitment and dedication was rewarded with goodies from Nikita, Golden Ride, Boardriding, POW and QParks. What a way to end the year, but a perfect start to the Girl Shred season!
