We touched base with Lucas to get the scoop on his new series of events
Whether you realise it or not, you’re probably already familiar with Lucas Beaufort’s work. His art has adorned snowboards, goggles and skateboards for years, bringing character and energy to the tools we riders thrash into snow, rocks and rails around the globe.
Over his career, Lucas has worked with a wide range of brands and riders to bring their visions to life, all while being a snowboarder and skateboarder himself. That passion, combined with his industry insight, has led him to create The Common Line— a series of events designed not only to bring the snowboard industry together to figure out how we can better support and progress the sport, but also to give the public a look behind the scenes, breaking down barriers between brands and riders.
We asked him a few questions to find out more.

What does The Common Line mean to you?
The Common Line, to me, is about breaking down walls and creating something where everybody feels included. I love the idea that, even if just for a moment, brands stop competing. It might sound crazy to say, because of course there’s business behind it, but I also know that all the brands know each other. They talk, they hang out, they share dinners and conversations about the industry. And I love that.
What I want is to bring everyone together for the same cause, the love of snowboarding. I created The Common Line to highlight and to celebrate snowboarding.
That’s all I want to do.
Where did the idea for this come from?
The idea came from the fact that I’m both an artist and a big snowboard fan. I started riding around 1993–1994, and back then snowboarding was still so small. I remember hitchhiking to get to the resort in the southeast of France because I didn’t have the money. I would just show up with my board, build a little kicker, and ride whatever I could.
Over the years, my passion never faded. I began designing boards for brands, creating books, and eventually got to know the entire industry. At some point I thought: what if I create something bigger than my own little world?
Now I see myself as someone who’s here to coordinate, to connect, to bring people together. That’s my only one mission.
What’s your goal for The Common Line?
The goal of The Common Line is simply to make sure that everyone feels included even those who have never really snowboarded before. If I can bring those people to assist the round tables with the industry, or to the art shows, and show them that tomorrow they can come ride with us, give them support, and help them experience it.
What are you most excited for at these events?
I feel really excited about the first stop in Whistler (December 6 / 7) because it’s the beginning. I can’t wait to connect with so many people. Jody Wachniak from Airtime is going to host and lead the roundtable with industry riders and brands, and I also want to connect with locals, local artists, and ride together. Plus, I’ll be linking up with The Circle, the local core shop, it’s going to be a massive weekend.
Of course, I’m excited for all nine stops around the world, but this first one is going to be special.
How can people get involved?
Getting involved is really easy. Just go to the website, enter your name, email, and let us know which stop of The Common Line you want to attend, that’s it, the simplest way to join. Or, of course, you can just show up! I’ll be sharing a lot more details soon, but I definitely recommend subscribing on the website to stay updated.
