Lindsey Jacobellis rides for redemption and takes home the Snowboard Cross win

Years before Max Parrot and #GrabGate, there was Lindsey Jacobellis and the grab that cost her the Gold

We hate to say we told you so, but we bloody called it! Sixteen long years after she threw away a Gold Medal in Turin, Lindsey Jacobellis has just won the Olympic Snowboard Cross.

“Sixteen long years after she threw away a Gold Medal in Turin, Lindsey Jacobellis has just won the Olympic Snowboard Cross”

It was the most tragically iconic moment that we’ve seen thus far in any Olympic Games, the ill-timed grab, the fantastic commentary and the shock of the BoarderX community resulted in an event that’s haunted Jacobellis’s career for the better part of two decades.

Over the years she’s won every title and competition imaginable, except the illusive 5 ringed circus. At 36 years old and going into her fifth Olympics, Jacobellis was expecting Beijing 2022 to be her final shot at redemption. And now, she’s finally come full circle to take home the most coveted medal and her long-awaited absolution.

She had a strong race in the finals, leading the whole way despite fierce competition hounding her from the get-go. Jacobellis managed to grow her lead and walk away with her first Olympic Gold, and Team USA’s first Gold of the games so far. And no, she didn’t try a grab on the final jump.
