Unless you’ve been living under a rock – or more likely you’re internet connection has gone kaputz – you couldn’t have failed to notice that Lib Tech‘s Holy Bowly went off in Park City, Utah over the weekend. The American snowboard media has been ablaze with joy, declaring it to be ‘one of the greatest on hill gatherings’ ever, amongst other claims.
And we have to admit, it looks pretty fun! The format isn’t a new one – Lib Tech have been running the same event in Japan for a number of years now – but with Park City‘s facilities they were able to construct the biggest course yet, essentially a giant skate park built from snow.
What we’d give for a few laps in that park! Rollers, berms, jumps and tunnels all revolving around one central bowl just begging to be carved. With rumours abounding that Park City might about to be bought out by Vail Resorts for a potential swan song, this looks like it was some event.
In attendance were Scott Stevens, Lucas Magoon, Bjorn Leines, Jamie Lynn, Ozzy Henning, Tim Eddy and Jake OE, as well as many, many more. Hardly a line went untouched or a corner not carved – if you’ve been praying for more creative and original contests since Sochi then send your nearest snowpark this link and plead with them to get shaping.
After all, build it and they will come.
