Friday and International Women’s Day – nearly as good of a combination as Hall & Oates. We’re all stoked on celebrating International Women’s Day, and what better way to do it than to go snowboarding with your local girl gang! There are some cool all-girls’s events out there, so go ahead and have your pick. We’ve compiled a list of a few all-girl events for you to choose from, so that you can celebrate International Women’s Day today or any other day for that matter.

Shred Unit

Shred Unit was created back in 2015 by a group of friends who saw there was loads of great potential around but not enough encouragement for girls to actually keep on pushing themselves. The girls behind Shred Unit, Vanessa, Nina, Hedieh, Lisa, Madeleine, Heidy and Steffi, are all lovely girls who want to get more girls stoked on riding. Shred Unit offers five coaching lessons around different snowparks in Tyrol throughout the season, and don’t worry, you can be a total rookie to take part in their sessions.

The girls make sure that all the girls attending are divided into a group according to their level, and while coaching they’ll take into consideration what you’d love to learn. They’ve also got two boys on the team, Lukas and Jakob, who make sure that all the media related things get sorted. Shred Unit will host their last session of this season in March at Nordkette, and a Cash 4 Tricks session on the 5th of May in Kaunertal.

Burton Rise-Up Women’s Mountain Session

Burton Rise-Up Women’s Mountain Session

With Donna Carpenter as their CEO, it’s no surprise that Burton are throwing an event to celebrate International Women’s Day. Donna and Mr Burton himself are spending this year in Europe, and with their European headquarters being based in Innsbruck, Austria, what better place to throw an all girls mountain session than Nordkette?

“We reckon an afternoon shredding with Donna Carpenter…is unlikely to leave you feeling uninspired”

We reckon an afternoon shredding with Donna Carpenter, who is pretty much the definition of female empowerment, and Olympic gold medallist Nicola Thost, is unlikely to leave you feeling uninspired. And for those who aren’t yet convinced, there will be free coffee and cake (they had us at free cake tbh), Tirolian dinner and drinks (who can say no to free drinks?), and a goodiebag. Check out the Burton Rise-Up Women’s Mountain Session event here, and if you can’t make it this year, we can only hope they’ll throw it again next year.

Girls Are Awesome presents Slay Days

As a part of Absolut Park’s celebration week, Girls Are Awesome are hosting Slay Days – another excuse for us to enjoy three whole days of being a girl, a snowboarder, and *ahem*…  awesome. There’s a special shoot that also takes place during the celebration week, which is open for every girl who wants to have their picture taken. Pro snowboarders Hailey Langland, Silje Norendal and Yuka Fujimori will also be around for that, and we’re sure they are stoked to give you any tips on whatever trick you simply can’t get your head around. Q Park Girls Shred Sessions

We know it can be a bit intimidating to try out new things in the park, which is why we are happy that more all girls’ sessions are popping up. Girls Shred Sessions are held about five times per season, in different locations around the alps. The group of girls attending are divided into smaller groups based on your level of snowboarding.

You’ll spend a day with some experienced and extremely nice coaches who’ll be helping you to stomp whatever trick you’ve been itching to get right (or simply to straight air over a kicker). As always, the Whitelines crew is stoked on anything that involves free food, and we’re happy to tell you that every girls shred session includes a free lunch. The last session of this season will be held at Hochkönig, Austria, this Saturday, 9th of March. Have a look at the Facebook event for more details for the Blue Tomato Girls Day at Hochkönig!

Supergirl Snow Pro Contest

This is an event not everyone of us might be able to physically take part in, but it’s definitely worth a watch (either in person, or via the highlight reels). The Supergirl Snow Pro Contest is the only all-female snowboarding competition in the world – and they’ve lined up the date of it with International Women’s Day. Not only does this event promote female empowerment but they are also big on both sustainability and raising breast cancer awareness. It’s led by Lindsey Jacobellis, who will forever remind us that snowboarding is about having fun, and that it should never, ever, be taken too seriously. The event takes place this weekend, Friday the 8th of March to Sunday the 10th of March.
