Taylor, along with Ben Ferguson and Greg Bretz, is one of the ‘new wave’ of American halfpipe riders that’s swooped in to raise the bar. He hit a purple patch in 2014, bouncing back from failure to make the Olympic final to win the inaugral Red Bull Double Pipe contest and the Burton US Open. As well as a top rider in his own right, his antics on a board inspired his younger sister Arielle to get her shred on too.

In turn, her success motivated him. “I was definitely jealous”, he said shortly before Sochi, which they both qualified for. “I think that was important for my progression. I just liked having her there to support me and help me push through a kind of the rough season. It was awesome.”
