What the hell? Unless we’re missing something our American TV masters appear to have cut to ads during Aimee’s last run, so I’m afraid we can’t let you know how that went down. Suffice to say she’s not on the podium tho…

Yep, not the best run by Spence. And that’s her final one – so her best hope is for silver…

Wow, that’s a good run

96!! Wow, can’t say we were expecting that. I mean it was a good run but… 96 good? I guess she did spin all four ways, and of course it makes for great TV that Jamie Anderson now has to top that with her final run. Sure that didn’t cross anyone’s minds tho.

But here’s Jamie with her final run… what’s she got?!?

Hand down (wo)man down?

Oooooohhhh shit!! Jamie’s going great for the first hit and then hand down on the second! And she HAS to get something big on that final kicker – a cab 9 at least but… she doesn’t. She doesn’t land it – which means Silje has won!!

Silje wraps herself in the flag and turns to the crowd to celebrate, but they’d better get that medal on her quickly because it’s time for another commercial break!!

So Silje has followed up her win in Tignes with gold in Aspen, joining such illustrious company as our own Jenny Jones. She’s leapt on by her homies, and now the annoying mic wielding presenter.

Can’t let anything get in the way of the main event now can we? Can’t allow too much celebration… QUICK, CUT TO THE ADS, QUICKLY!!

Seriously though, I know it’s hard to appreciate it while we’re watching adverts about “Aspen Willy” (whoever the FUCK that is) but that was quite an achievement by Silje Norendaal there… that’s her second X Games gold in a row, and also the second upset of the night. The second time a slopestyle favourite was pipped at the post, and potentially a VERY interesting portent of what might happen at Sochi.

Might we have to re-evaluate our ideas about who’s who in the slopestyle? Should X Parrot and Silje be crowned favourites ahead of McLovin and Ms Anderson? We’ll see… but the X Games 2014 Slopestyle has been a far more interesting contest than we could have predicted.
