Our friends over at Snowboard Club UK are organising what sounds like an awesome antidote to the end of the season – a spring shred session at the Hemel Snow Centre. The session will be an all-day affair, taking over the slope on Saturday May 1st from 9am until 11 at night. In standard SCUK style, the emphasis with the event is on getting everyone involved, no matter what level they are. Here’s how Dunx, the main man over at SCUK, described the whole thing:
“Snowboard Club UK is all about people riding more often especially in the UK, enjoying snowboarding and loving the benefits of SCUK Membership. That means you’ve got to find your freestyle mojo for the summer. If you can already ride, but have “the fear” of those rails, boxes and jumps, then this SCUK Bash is just for you!
The Hemel Snow Centre’s rails, jumps and boxes will be out on the slope all day, including a revamped “The SCUK Box” allowing for a relaxed day of jibbing around. Beginner freestyle coaching sessions are available for just £5 an hour from Definition and Maverix, with progression sessions available for those with some freestyle know-how and freestyle ski coaching for any two-planked brothers and sisters who dare show their faces.
The evening sees SCUK hold an easy going jam session with prizes for all courtesy of Westbeach, Burton, Anon, DC and Animal. Don’t think your tenth front-flip will win you anything special, but your first 50/50 just might.”
On top of all the goodness on offer, Snow & Rock will be giving SCUK members a 10 percent discount on everything, and Hemel are offering these heavily discounted rates members:
Day Pass 9am – 6pm : Adult £50 // Junior £40
Evening Pass 6pm – 11pm : Adult £35 // Junior £25
Combined Pass 9am – 11pm :Adult £75 // Junior £55 – That’s £5.35 an hour!
All in all, it sounds like a damn good time. So why not head down to the indoor snow palace that is Hemel and shred like a king for the day!
