http://mpora.com/videos/HCXD74RdR Winter is coming round ridiculously fast again, and the UK’s pre-season indoor comps are fast approaching. It seems insanely soon, but there’s less than a month before the Burton High 5 Tour kicks off in Tamworth. Not that that’s a bad thing – we at Whitelines are getting pretty excited about the tour, which kindof combines Burton’s Scrap Metal Jam with our Park Battle concept rewarding both the UK’s finest riders and the UK’s best shapers with big prizes.
The overall idea for the comps goes something like this: The boys at Burton have built five shiny new rails, which they’ll be taking around the UK’s indoor slopes. At each dome, the local shapers will be given the chance to dig the rails in anyway they want, as well as building a sixth feature of their own choice. Basically, it’s a chance for shaping crews to get crazily creative.
Shredders will then be invited in for a jam-style comp, with a two-hour judged jam session replacing the traditional two-run format. Basically it’s a chance for riders to get crazily creative. At the end of the evening of crazy creativity, judges will award prizes in three categories 5-12 years, 13-16 years and 17+. They’ll also be looking closely at the park setup, and after the final date of the tour (in mid-November) they’ll be handing out a Golden Shovel award to the best park-shaping crew in the UK – with special Burton goodie bags for all the five shapers.
We’re expecting the series to produce some sick riding, some rad new ideas for indoor parks, and a whole lot of fun for everyone involved. If that sounds like your bag, then put one of more of the dates below in your diary and get stuck in!
