The 40 metre high kicker is finally returning to the Olympic stadium in Munich, Germany for this year’s Nike 6.0 Air & Style event on 12th February. With three years out of the loop, organizers have hit back this year in an attempt to persuade officials that Munich is the place to be for the 2018 Winter Olympics, and we’re all buzzing now we’ve seen the line-up of who’s going to be riding.
The event coincides with the final of the Nike 6.0 Stairset Battle Tour, which is hopping all over the map and will end in grand style in Munich. The prize pot is a tidy 75,000 Euros, and is offering 1000 TTR points to the winner too. Not really one to miss then. Edgar Jorissen is the Marketing director of Nike AGS:
After the revival of the Air & Style in Innsbruck 2008 another dream comes true with the return of the Air & Style Munich. After witnessing memorable moments at the past Air & Styles at the Olympic Stadium Munich, Nike 6.0 and the city of Munich made the return possible. The Nike 6.0 Air & Style Munich 2011 is also going to be a boost for the 2018 Olympic Winter games application.
The Nokia Air & Style event back in 2007 played host to some spectacular riding, especially from local German lad David Benedek who still didn’t come first despite a brilliant final run (above). You can read the full report of that event here.
For the first time this season, Air & Style has been split into three separate events, which is cool but a bit confusing for everybody. The first event was held in Beijing on December 4th, with the Austrain event being held on February the 5th in the Bergisel stadium, Innsbruck. The event comes to it’s full finale in Munich, and below are the riders who have bagged a spot in the competition…
