Corked Backside 720 DoubleGrab with Travis Rice in British Columbia

Published in Whitelines Magazine Issue 93, December 2010

“I left the Olympic Circus that was Vancouver last February to meet up with Travis Rice and Mark Landvik. They were in the interior of British Columbia, flying helicopters and riding sleds on the cloudy days. When I finally arrived they were pretty much tapped on the heli budget (yes, even Travis Rice had run out of heli time!) so it was basically all sled-accessed terrain for the next two weeks. I remember the weather being really bad the whole time and finally, on the last day, we got some sun.

This was a really poppy jump – the kind of kicker that proves you don’t always need to go a super long way to get maximum airtime – but it was giving Rice and Landvik a really hard time. They probably hit it five times each and got bucked every which direction. Then I think something triggered in Travis. His face got all serious and he went quiet. From that moment on he went bigger and bigger and landed every time. He got three different tricks. It was the strangest thing to watch.”– Scott Serfas, Photographer
