Launching on May 19th 2008, The Oakley Design Brief presents artists with a unique and challenging canvas. Over a 2-month period entrants can download the design template from www.oakleydesignbrief.co.uk and submit their treatments directly to Oakley, to be judged by a panel of experts. The most outstanding design will have the distinction of being produced as the UK’s limited edition Artist Series and join the elite global line up including Art Chantry, Todd Francis, The London Police, Frank Kozik and Naomi South.
A final exhibition will be organised with Daydream Network to showcase the exceptional artwork submitted and announce the winning UK artist series design.
In 2007 Oakley built on their legacy of ground breaking product design by introducing their first artist designed sunglass; a collaboration with Seattle based Art Chantry, infamous for his artwork in the early 90’s grunge music and cultural scene. Since then Oakley has worked with select graphic artists and designers to create the Oakley Artist Series. The collection has been an opportunity to work creatively with artists that share the brand’s own design philosophies of innovation, invention, style and performance without limitations or concern for controversy.
