Damian Doyle, mastermind behind the STANDINGsideways films and the UK’s best park shaper, has sent us word of a brand new event he’s organising at his home slope of Castleford.
The “STANDINGsideways Sessions” will take place at the SNO!zone on Friday 11th June, from 7pm till 11pm. Expect a full slope park and three signature rider features to rip up, namely:
– Jonny Russell’s “Rhythmic Razzmatazz”
– Dom Harington’s “Pipe Of Mild Peril”
– Stu Edwards’ “Down Bar Delight”
This is not a pro-focused comp but an open night for all standards of snowboarder. The focus is on pushing your riding level, feeling stoked and sessioning some finely shaped obstacles. Highlights of the evening are set to include:
– Rider jam sessions on the signature features
– On the spot prizes for tricks, slams and impressive efforts (prizes provided by the sponsors: TSA, Animal, Relentless, Whitelines, Quiksilver, Roxy, Salomon, Bonfire, FearOfThePark)
– Secret “Trani-Finder” missions [I hope this isn’t what he means? – Ed]
– Rookie park for fast laps on the nursery slope
– Free coaching
– Free hot chocolate and hot dogs served in the SSlounge
– Slope viewing encouraged
– Hiking allowed
– Features for all ability levels
Skiers are also welcome – as Damo says: “the park’s made for you guys too… it’s all sideways when you’re on the rails!”
