After the storming success that was Burton’s first summer freestyle camp, the second, which hit Tamworth last Tuesday, was so good it brought tears of joy to one shredder!
Burton UK’s Ferg Hetherington told us that the Dome was packed to the rafters with young (and not so young) freestyle fanatics, all putting the hard yards in to learn and stomp new tricks.
The night which is aimed at all levels of rider ability, with the simple aim of progression, went off with a bang.
On-hand to pass on their wisdom in freestyle wizardry and generally stoke out the attendees were the UK Burton pro team – including Matt Higson, Lil T and local hero Chris Kightley.
There was a buzzing atmosphere that got the riders totally amped about shredding. Also in attendance was the new 2011 range of boards and bindings for anyone and everyone to try out. Burtons technicians seem to have done it again this season, with the Whammy Bars and the new Nugs getting freestylers hot under the collar.
All in all Burton and Tamworth put on a night that saw a great deal of progression, from riders first 5050’s to Steezy nose presses and BS 180’s.
The guys at Rude Chalets were on hand and kind enough to donate a weeks holiday to the person who progressed the most over the two sessions. The worthy winner was Nick Linacre, who will now be laying down his new tricks in the Stash park of Morzine, and taking part in the Rude park, pipe and jib tour that’s held in Portes du Soleil this spring. Jammy shit..
Keep an eye here for future Burton freestyle camps at Tamworth.
