British Olympic hopeful heads to Argentina

British Snowboard Team member and snowboard cross superstar Zoe Gillings has chased the snow to the southern hemisphere where she is due to compete the first Snowboard cross World Cup event of the season in Chapelco. Gillings, who is one of our brightest hopes for a medal in next year’s winter Olympics, will be hoping to gain valuable experience and points for her qualification campaign. Of course the great and the good of the snowboard cross world – including previous Olympic champs Tanja Freiden and Seth Westacott will also be present, correct and trying to get their own qualification campaigns underway, meaning the competition may be fierce. But Zoe is currently ranked 5th in the world, and appears to be on fine form, having entered the South American Cup as a warm up and come second in Ginat Slalom, a discipline she doesn’t even compete in usually. We hope we’ll be able to bring you tales of a glorious Gillings victory in a few days time. [photo: Snowsport GB]
