The Burton US Open 2015 is a go! Take a look at this year’s 2015 slopestyle course with Mark McMorris.
One of the longest running and most prestigious snowboard contests on the competitive snowboarding calendar, the Burton US Open, has returned to Vail, CO in 2015 for its 33rd edition.
The contest is well underway already, with women’s slopestyle semi-finals going down last night, but if you haven’t scoped the slopestyle course yet, we go feature by feature in this edit with Mark McMorris.
After a couple of flat-down rail options in rail section 1, the course moves into a second rail feature with gap to down bar, flat pyramid feature and flat-down options to choose from. The third rail feature is perhaps the coolest looking, with a huge up-cannon pyramid feature, rainbow rail and flat bar to hit.
The mini-feature somewhat resembles what was pushed together for this year’s Burton European open: two masses of snow that can be either used as a regular kicker, or more creatively as a quarterpipe launch-out feature.
Rounding off the course are two regular slopestyle kickers of approximately 60 feet and 70 feet. Whether they are big enough for the elusive triple cork remains to be seen, but we highly suspect that at least the final kicker is.
