Terje Haakonsen – almost universally acknowledged as the king of snowboarding – has been making it known over the last season that after decades of riding he’s looking for ways to mix it up and make it fresh for himself again. He’s a big proponent of ‘the quiver’ and it’s rare powder trip with him when he’s not armed with a whole range of boards, from lengthy chargers to short pow surfers.
Will it be like so many times where Terje leads and others follow? Or will it be like the 1998 Olympics again, where Terje led and, um…
He also has a love for snowskating – something he might see eye-to-eye on with a previous WL online editor – but until now we’ve only seen snippets of it in Oakley’s latest movie and this rad Norwegian spring edit.
The video above is a good example of how he reckons even the smallest local hill can be made exciting again by ditching the bindings, though unfortunately the cameraman seems to have a penchant for ass shots.
