Snow Camp is a charitable organisation that aims to improve the chances of inner-city youths by introducing them to snowsports.
Skiing and snowboarding are often accused of being elitist activities – a past time of the rich – but from the video above it can be seen that by encouraging people who’ve never before experienced sliding on snow to take up the challenge it helps develop key skills such as working to a goal and overcoming fears.
In the last eleven years Snow Camp has helped over 3000 people with their program, dissuading some from a life in gang cultures and helping others gain instructor qualifications or careers in the snowsports industry.
It is amazing seeing the thing that we all love so much being used for something so positive; Whitelines is proud to be behind the Snow Camp initiative. Other notable backers include chip-hat-wearer Ed Leigh and professional backcountry freeskier Warren Smith, as well as Chemmy Alcott and Graham Bell.
