Boom! This is one hell of a part from German rider Elias Elhardt. Anyone who’s watched his career trajectory like we have will know that it was only a matter of time before he put out a truly epic backcountry section, but we have to say, we still weren’t totally prepared for this when it landed on our virtual desk(top) this morning.
The sheer size of some of the kickers he’s hitting (check out the gap over the chasm at 3.58), and the control with which he takes them (have you ever seen a more stylish late BS180 than the one at 4.26?) nearly made us choke on our lunchtime sandwiches.
He’s also perfectly at home floating an enormous frontside 180 when the situation calls for it. There’s a trick we don’t see often enough.
At the same time, he’s no slouch when it comes to big lines either. He can clearly do tech (like his frontside 10 at 1.31 – this is after all, a man who made his name as the contest double-corker par excellence when the trick was new) but he’s also perfectly at home floating an enormous frontside 180 when the situation calls for it. Look at the one at 2.15 – now that’s a trick we don’t see enough of.
Combine this all with slick editing, great filming and a sick intro (featuring our man as a scarecrow) and you have one seriously cool video part. Section of the year? You could definitely claim it…
